Director Nag Ashwin, who is currently working on the big-budget Prabhas-starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD,’ announced on Friday at the IIT Bombay Techfest that the film’s trailer might be ready in 93 days, which translates to either March 31 or April 1, 2024. He also said that the movie, which boasts of a stellar star cast, is a standalone film.

Prabhas, the nationally renowned Pan-Indian actor, is riding high on the success of his most recent film, Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire. At the same time, he is preparing for his next movie, Kalki 2898 AD, which will be directed by Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame.

Nag Ashwin also said , ‘मुझे ऐसा नहीं लगता…यह भारत का प्रोजेक्ट के है, भारत की कल्कि है। यह एक फिल्म है, और मुझे लगता है कि यह काफी है।‘.
Kalki 2898 AD to release in several international languages
The film is now in production and will be released in the third quarter of 2024, directed by Nag Ashwin, well known for the successful film Mahanati. According to current rumours, Kalki 2898 AD will be issued not just in Indian languages, but also in English and other worldwide languages, with the goal of reaching a broad global audience. Soon, an official announcement will be made.
Buzz: ‘Kalki is not Star Wars’
When a student questioned the filmmaker, “Will the film be India’s Star Wars?” he drew comparisons between Kalki 2898 AD and the blockbuster franchise. “Are you going to create an entire universe around it?” Nag made it apparent that his film was unique when he replied, “I don’t think so…This is going to be India’s K. It is India’s Project K, Kalki. It’s only one film, and I believe that’s sufficient.” He did, however, support a fan’s hypothesis concerning a sequel to the film.
Custom-built the weapons were used
The armour and weapons have been a key talking point since the Kalki 2898 AD teaser was revealed. While some praised the filmmakers for their creativity in shaping the weaponry in the film, others felt that the weapons could have appeared better on-screen. Nag noted that the crew encountered many difficulties while creating them. “We did not have a reference point, so it was all about trial and error for us when it came to all the props,” he told.
He also mentioned that there are a lot of weapons in the movie and that they tried to do more than just reuse outdated items. He went on, “We did a lot of VFX to help them come to life. Instead of renting an existing gun prop, slapping on two lights, and calling it a laser gun, we built the weapons from scratch.” They will, however, appear far better in the movie than in the teaser because we have taken feedback into consideration.

The cast of Kalki 2898 AD is incredible and includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and many more. As Kalki, the main character, rises to confront a harsh and repressive future in a conflict between good and evil.
